There’s no need to leave the Haikko manor grounds for a cultural experience. This summer, the Porvoo Summer Theatre presents the comedy Porvoon naurattavin avioliitto – Anna tassu at Haikko. The hilarious show tells a story of everyday married life, the chaos of an entertainment agency and life with a dog named Orso. The premiere takes place on 7.7., and performances continue until 5.8.

The Haikko Manor area is known for its many villas, where cultural figures spent their summers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The most famous of Haikko’s summer guests was Albert Edelfelt, one of Finland’s most respected painters, who spent 26 summers in the area and created more than 220 works inspired by its landscapes. Today, the studio museum exhibition tells the story of Edelfelt and his family’s summers in Haikko. The Edelfelt Studio Museum is located just a short walk from Haikko Manor and is open 7.5.–4.10.2026.

Complete your visit by following the In the Footsteps of Edelfelt trail along the shoreline. Information boards along the route guide visitors to the exact spots where Edelfelt painted famous works such as Boys Playing on the Shore (1884). The artworks are presented in the very landscapes where they were created, offering a memorable way to experience art as part of the surrounding nature.
